Renting doesn't mean you have to be a slave to a space's (already existing) aesthetic. There are plenty of things you can switch up and change around to make your living situation that bit sweeter. If you hate that pale yellow wall or the faux leather settee, store away what you can and ask your landlord if a repaint is an option. But if not, there are smaller projects that will make your rental a place you can't wait to come home to. Read on and revamp.
1. Switch up you drawer handles and door knobs
2. Frame your wallpaper (if you're not allowed to hang it)
3. Change up your blinds or add curtains over those drab windows
4. Install simple shelves to display art, your books or any collections
5. Embrace the room divider, especially in open plan living/kitchen areas
6. Hide those tiles you don't like with stick ons
7. Introduce textured soft furnishings
8. Paint your second-hand furniture finds
9. Replace your taps
10. Add flowers and greenery
11. Put dimmers on your light switches to create some ambience
12. Place rugs you love over the floors you hate
