Here's a little extra info about Noel's entry:

Noel Sweeney

Connexel poplar plywood multi-use chair/table/stool

  • College: GMIT Letterfrack
  • Course:  Furniture Design and Manufacture
  • Inspiration: A childhood passion for mechano and K’nex toy sets.
  • Why we love it: It’s the ultimate flatpack – simplicity itself, with no screws required -and we could personalise it as we see fit. Packed with potential.
  • Why the judges love it: “Noel clearly understood and interpreted the brief very well. The product’s multi-functional concept, the use of sustainable wood and its reduction of wastage in production gave it strong eco-credentials. It was also well-resolved and well-made, so it was a definite winner,” says Leo Scarff.
