Wanderlust boutique hotel: An experiment in design

By Jimmy Loughran 14-12-2010

What is it:

Located in Little India, Singapore, Wanderlust is the latest creation of hotelier Loh Lik Peng.

What’s so special:

Wanderlust’s official website describes the hotel as a “totally experimental boutique hotel set to draw madcap voyagers and curious travelers to its doorstep”. Its unique look can be attributed to the award winning design agencies which were given the task of designing 29 rooms with full creative freedom.

Design themes include Pantone – rooms rendered in different hues, Mono – rooms inspired by paper, origami and pop art and Whimsical – rooms that include themes such as ‘ASCII’ and ‘Typewriter’.

Getting there:

A number of airlines will take you to Singapore, but don’t expect it to be cheap! Our search on flight comparison site Hipmunk.com returned prices of €2,000 and upwards for a round trip.

Once you get to Singapore, you can take an inexpensive trip on the SMRT rail service to Little India.

The details:

Spend a night in the Mono Delux for SGD 232.10 (roughly €140) and enjoy a queen-size bed, wifi and complimentary breakfast. Visit wanderlusthotel.com, phone +65 6396 3322 or email [email protected] for more information.
