Founded in Brooklyn in 2005, many are familiar with e-commerce website, Etsy, but fewer may know that the European headquarters are right here in Dublin. And, as we're big supporters of Irish craft, here at House and Home, we wanted to highlight the Irish sellers that make up a portion of Etsy's online marketplace. Specialising in handmade and vintage items, here are ten stores (and products) we're big fans of at the moment.
Ceramist, Adele Stanley, is based in Waterford and creates fun and colourful porcelain vases (above), bowls and hanging ornaments. At 15.5cm in height, these vases display a geometric pattern and are unglazed for a matte finish. €45 each.
Ringsend I and II are new to Brookwood Pottery's range of ceramics. These thrown bud vases are around 18 cms in height and are inspired by, you guessed it, the iconic Poolbeg chimneys on Dublin's coastline. A set of two costs €50.
We love a bit of typographical irony! These cushions from Dublin based, Simple Things Prints, come in at €21.50 each.
Based in beautiful Kinsale in Cork, say hello to MA Céramiste. We came across these porcelain Coco boxes just in time for Easter, but they'd make very sweet storage containers all year round. €30
Weaverella is home to many woven handmade wallhangings. Shop owner, Emma, uses a handmade loom and various fibres, wools and yarns and then hangs them on driftwood, found on the beaches surrounding her hometown in Waterford. With the rise in popularity of wall decor, of late, there's no doubt that Emma's shop will hang (sorry!) around for a while.
Based in Dublin, Project Sarafan sells 20th century home décor, as well as handmade and upcycled home textiles, like this blue and white chevron cushion (above) that comes in at €50.
Inspired by nature's organic forms and textures, Mairi Stone works from her studio in west Cork. These gorgeous porcelain dishes are really special; coloured with fused glass, the underside is unglazed, which adds to the bowl's raw and natural theme. Perfect to use as salt pinch pots or jewellery holders. €12 each.
Art Glamour Sligo specialises in wooden decor, including the above wall clocks that are fully handmade, dyed and distressed to keep the natural grain visible. Hang the three pieces in an order that suits you and even design your own by choosing the size and colour you prefer. €79.71
Based in Claremorris, Co Mayo, Mindful Productivity's beeswax candles are hand-rolled, scented with honey and burn completely clean. A set of three beeswax candles is €13.50.
Self-proclaimed lovers' of 'clean lines and bright bold colours', if you're a frequenter of Dublin's flea markets, then you may be familiar with Stencilize. Their origami inspired designs are a contemporary take on animal prints. These mugs come in at €12 a pop.
So, that may be our ten, but there are SO many more. We could easily get lost perusing through Etsy for an afternoon. Who have we left out?
