Vibrant Summer brights take over interiors

In case you've been hiding under a rock lately you'll have noticed the explosion of colour appearing on everything from fashion and accessories right through to homewares and furniture. Maybe it's our way of bringing a bit of cheer into our lives during these hard times? Well, whatever the reason we are loving this trend and we're here to tell you it's gonna be around for some time according to just-released colour predictions from Dulux for 2013

This quirky living room would instantly bring a smile to your face after a long, hard day at the office wouldn't it? Try the KARLSTAD sofa (€699 from IKEA) for a similar look and pair it with some vintage furniture. Going for a white or ivory sofa will allow you to change around the accessories as often as you like quite inexpensively. Layer up the look with brightly coloured and patterned cushions and a vibrant area rug. The green standard lamp wall sticker costs €32 at www.wallstickers.ie.

Jump on the colour-clashing craze and paint your walls in intense blues and royal purples for a truly eye-catching look and don't be afraid to paint the skirting boards the same colour for continuity. Walls are painted Laguna Bay and Prom Night from Crown Paints, www.crownpaints.ie.

These zingy green colours are sure to keep you wide awake while you work! These walls have been painted Forest Falls and the legs of the desk have been painted Kiwi Burst both from Dulux, www.dulux.ie. You'll find similar industrial-style stools and furniture at Industry in Dublin's Cow's Lane, www.industrydesign.ie.

If you don't feel brave enough to paint an entire wall in some of these bright colours, why not paint a single chair in a bold shade for a fun splash of colour to your home.
