Inspiring space we love: Riviera refinement at Palais Ségurane, Nice

We checked into this new boutique hotel in Old Nice and left completely charmed by its soft, sunlit interiors and effortless French elegance.
There’s something instantly calming about Palais Ségurane. Hidden among the ochre facades and cobbled streets of Old Nice, this four-star boutique hotel feels like a well-kept secret, a serene refuge where design, heritage, and Mediterranean warmth come together in perfect harmony.

From the moment we stepped inside, we felt it: that particular Riviera light that floods through tall windows and dances off pale plaster walls, the faint scent of citrus and linen, and the quiet hum of relaxed sophistication.

A modern take on Mediterranean charm
What struck us most was the sense of space and softness in the interiors. The design doesn’t shout, it whispers.
Rooms are dressed in muted creams and stone, punctuated by warm woods and woven textures that nod to the Niçois landscape. The palette mirrors the light outside - a sun-washed blend of ivory, sand, and sea haze that feels uniquely Southern.

Every piece feels intentional, from sculptural lamps that cast gentle pools of light to linen drapes that move with the breeze and touches of brushed brass and pale oak that lend quiet glamour.

The suites are spacious and elegantly simple, some with terraces where you can sip a morning espresso as church bells echo through the old town.
It’s a kind of modern Mediterranean minimalism that still feels deeply personal and lived in.

A taste of the Riviera at Restaurant Catherine
Design extends naturally into the hotel’s dining space, Restaurant Catherine, all soft curves, sunlit textures, and the comforting clatter of cutlery on ceramic.
We started mornings with fresh juice and flaky pastries on the terrace, surrounded by greenery and the hum of local life. By evening, the space glows golden with candlelight flickering on curved plaster walls and the faint sound of live jazz drifting in from the bar. It’s easy, local, and incredibly chic - the very definition of la dolce vita à la Niçoise.

Design that feels like home
Just steps from Place Garibaldi and Cours Saleya, Palais Ségurane sits perfectly between the sea and the old town, close enough to the buzz yet quiet enough to feel private.
What we loved most is how it captures the feeling of Nice, not through clichés but through texture, tone, and ease. It’s sophisticated without being stiff, luxurious without being overly glossy. Every surface feels touched by the Riviera light, every detail designed for calm.
For lovers of design and slow travel, Palais Ségurane is a destination in itself - a space that feels both new and timeless.
