ARCHITECTURAL ARCHES (feature image)
Donna Collins, architect & designer, Dot Projects
Adding arches to your home is a small structural change that can have a big impact. Part of their appeal lies is the fun and excitement they bring to a space while providing visual relief, introducing softness and variation in form.
Arches should feel intentional. They work best when they echo existing structural elements (doorways, windows), reinforcing the architectural language of the house.

BIFOLD KITCHEN SINK WINDOW
Courtney McDonnell, founder, Courtney McDonnell Architects
A bifold kitchen sink window is a modern nod to the classic ‘sink-under-the-window’ layout offering a seamless transition and connection to the outdoors without sacrificing countertop or storage space.
More interactive than a static window, a bifold window transforms the sink area into a serving hatch cum outside bar when paired with an extended worktop (a frostproof material, suitable for outdoors) and stools.

EXPOSED CEILINGS
Colin McDonnell, principal & founder, Found Architecture
Exposing timber joists is both a celebration of structure and a subtle tool for organisation; it adds depth, drama and texture while shaping how a room is read, creating zones from above without doing anything on the ground.
Ceiling designs can be louvred (with joists running parallel), criss-crossed in a grid pattern overhead, or vaulted.
