Convergence, relating art and literature- the last exhibition in Limerick's Istabraq Hall

Limerick City Gallery of Art is preparing a new exhibition, Convergence, in the Istabraq Hall and Ormston House this August. This will be the last exhibition held in the Istabraq hall - which has been a temporary home for LCGA while the Carnegie Hall has been redeveloped. Ormston House is a new art venue in the city supported by Creative Limerick.

Convergence will play host to up to twenty artists and art groups, highlighting the connection between visual arts and literature, a relationship that has often been debunked in the past. The curator of the exhibition, Dr. Christa-Maria Lerm Hayes, intends to highlight the impact that literature has had on the contemporary art world:

Literature has entered the contemporary art gallery invigorating exhibitions, their content and the experience of the viewer.

Convergence opens on the 16th August at 6pm in the Istabraq Hall and Mayor, Cllr. Jim Long will formally open the exhibition. The preview will then continue to Ormston House.
