The next deVeres auction is taking place at the Royal College of Physicians on Kildare St in Dublin on November 20th, and if you're a collector, it's one you're not going to want to miss.

An auction of 125 lots, they'll be on view at deVeres Gallery on Kildare St from November 16th-20th ahead of the auction.

The cover picture, ‘Breton Girl Reading’ by Roderic O’Conor, could easily have hung in the recent O’Conor Exhibition staged by the National Gallery, one that reinforced this major Irish artists’ reputation as being at the forefront of 20th Century modernist painting.

THE PUBLIC LETTER WRITER - Jack Butler Yeats RHA (1871-1957) Oil on board, 14” x 20 ¾” (35.5 x 53cm), signed, inscribed verso. €250,000 – 350,000

Other heavyweight artists featured in the auction include William Orpen’s portrait of WW1 fighter pilot and hero John Letts, A view of Achill by Paul Henry along with 2 major oils by Jack B Yeats. ‘Racing On the Strand’, painted in 1912 is one of the artists earliest oil paintings featuring a horse and jockey galloping on Sligo Strand. ‘The Public Letter Writer’, is a later larger work featuring a character that wrote letters for illiterate people to send home that Yeats came across in New York in 1904.

A selection International works also feature in the sale from the Collection of Rosemarie and Sean Mulcahy, who were both very much part of the art scene in Dublin for many years. Rosemarie was a leading expert in Spanish art. Works by Miquel Barcelo and Georg Baselitz feature in the collection that has come from their Leeson Park home, which they filled with art, colour and decorative objects picked up on their travels and where they entertained artists, academics and writers.

Two wonderful tapestries by Louis le Brocquy, made by master Renee Duche for Tabard Freres also feature in the sale, along with contemporary artists Tony O’Malley, John Shinnors, William Scott, William Crozier, etc
