How to introduce the blackboard trend into your home

We here at House and Home HQ just love the chalkboard craze that's trending right now in the interiors world. There are so many creative ways to introduce the chalkboard charm into your home and here are a few of our favourites.

We love the idea of painting whole walls in blackboard paint creating a unique, quirky and fun alternative to the conventional "accent wall". How cool is this kitchen in the image below? Lots of white in this room prevents it from looking too dark. The whole family will find this useful...you can use it to remind your other half to pick up some milk on his way home from work, to jot down household chores, recipes or an upcoming parent/teacher meeting... and your little ones can create works of art while you're making dinner.

Create a gallery effect by arranging filled and empty frames on a blackboard wall... simple but also personal and unique.

Check out this fab idea we spied over at Ikea this morning... They have created little blackboard sections for the days of the week by simply masking out rectangular sections on the wall and applying blackboard paint. They have printed off the days of the week and placed them in small frames over each section. So clever.

Another idea if you don't want to cover an entire wall in blackboard paint, how about painting the pantry door?

Or, if your cabinets have seen better days how about giving them a whole new look with blackboard paint? This is sure to be a talking point over dinner with friends.

You could also paint some left over wood or an old door, write out a thought provoking quote and you've got yourself a unique piece of wall art for your bathroom or indeed any room of the house.

Or you can always go with the original classroom style...
