When you think of full rooms, and how you want to decorate them, it's easy. You know the kinds of furniture you'll need for your living room or bedroom, and you know how to fill up shelves and walls with trinkets and artwork. However, there are plenty of spots in our homes that we tend to ignore. Especially in smaller homes, there's no reason not to take advantage of the opportunities below, to bring in a little more personality to your home. Here are three common forgotten spots that can be easily made a nicer part of your home!

1. Above the stairs

Often an awkwardly shaped space, knowing what to do with the space along and up your stairs can be tricky. A well-thought-out gallery wall can work wonders for the space, as it's unexpected compared to a large blank wall.

2. On top of the kitchen cabinets

The space above your kitchen cabinets often feels totally wasted. It's not a huge space, but it's not insignificant either. Some clever storage solutions can transform it from a useless, dusty space, into somewhere you store kitchen accessories you don't use too often, or the kind of dishware you only pull out on special occasions.

3. On your windowsills

Even the tiniest of windowsills can become a perfect spot to display some cute knick knacks to brighten up the window area. Some sun-loving plants can bring a windowsill alive so don't be shy!
