Suspended in a Swedish tree: Woodpecker Hotel

What’s so special:
It’s possibly the world’s smallest hotel with space for no more than one couple. The tree is suspended in a tree in one of the country’s largest parks. It is not kept in place with any nails, instead ropes keep it securely attached to the 130-year-old oak in which it sits.

Entry to the tree house, which sits 13 meters above the ground, is via a rope ladder. The tree house has outdoor decks, offering a great view of the park and lakes in the vicinity.

This unique hotel opens from the 1st of April to the 31st of October and costs 1100kr/ €117/£96 for two people (includes sheets and towels but no meals). To book visit their website or phone +46 (0)21-39 01 00.

Getting there:
Flights with Ryanair cost about €30 one way. You can also fly direct from London Stansted and take a 10 minute taxi drive from the airport when you arrive at Stockholm Västerås. Woodpecker Hotel is located about 1 hour outside of Stockholm.
