Locus: An exhibition of handmade furniture

This Thursday, August 18th sees the Old Frank Clark building in Cork come alive with the grand opening of the Locus furniture exhibition. Showcasing the works of several Cork based designers and makers, the exhibition explores the interaction between craft and design whilst making tomorrows heirlooms today.

The exhibition is part of Cork's craft month and run by Cork Art and Design (CAD). Eleven exhibitors will be participating this year and designers include, Fergal O' Leary from Horizon Furniture, Victoria Breathnach,  Mark Donnelly, Jodi Esquerda, Martin Horgan, Michael O' Connell and Thomas Murphy to name but a few.

It is being held to generate awareness of the unique skills and cabinetmaking talents that are available within Cork. With this kind of exposure people are encouraged to support quality, local enterprise and craft.

The exhibition is being officially unveiled on Thursday at 7pm by Cllr. Terry Shannon, Lord Mayor of Cork. Locus is running from Friday 19th- Sunday 28th August, open from 11am- 7pm.
