Open doors: Open House Dublin 2011

Open House, Ireland's biggest architectural festival, is happening this weekend. From the 7- 9th October, many of the cities buildings will open their doors to allow us in to explore and tour for free!

Buildings such as Busaras, The Criminal Courts of Justice and Leinster House are only a few of what's on view from the Iconic Dublin architectural skyline. The Casino at Marino, Temple Bar gallery and studios and James Joyce Tower make up part of the cultural and education category. And it's not just public buildings we're getting a chance to snoop in, many architecturally designed residential homes are open all around Dublin.

This year the Irish Architecture Foundation is delighted to present Open House Junior, a fun and exciting way for young people to get involved and explore the city. This is a great opportunity to get kids stimulated and made more aware of their surroundings, along with being a great day out for families. There is a number of workshops for under 12's to take part in, they include creating a room with a view in the National Gallery and make your own Martello tower in the Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown County Hall.

So why not pick up a free printed brochure from the Open House Dublin info desk located at The Culture Box, 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 and at locations around Dublin. Alternatively visit the Open House Dublin website where a digital PDF copy can be downloaded for just €2.00.
