IT'S TIME FOR A SUMMER RESET

There’s something funny about the way we talk about outdoor living - like it’s a trend. But haven’t we always been trying to sneak outside, just a little? A morning cuppa in the garden, dinner under the stars, that one chair that always finds the sunniest window.
Lately, though, it’s become something more. Our homes are shifting. Our seasons - our weather - are shifting too. Blazing sunshine in April? Sideways rain in June? The way we live is changing in response. The walls feel looser and more fluid. We’re building lives that flow - inside to out, outside to in, bedroom to wildflower patch.
It’s not about perfect patios or polished decks. It’s about air, light, and life.
The line between indoors and out is blurring - and honestly, I’m here for it. The best homes now breathe with the seasons. Big windows thrown open. Rooms spilling onto patios. Little pockets of green tucked into every corner.
This issue is full of exactly this kind of inspiration: from RTE Home of the Year’s winning house, overflowing with over 70 indoor plants (pg 48), to a dreamy family home in Donabate where the sea is the garden (pg 64), easy shopping and styling updates with planters, outdoor rugs, and pretty parasols, (pg 118), and easy ways to give your outdoor space a glow-up in an hour, a day, or a weekend (pg103).
Summer now is about homes that flex and flow, welcome the breeze and birdsong, and wrap you up when you need shelter.
