How to make a tablecloth from handkerchiefs

Check out this simple tutorial, which shows you how to give your collection of delicate handkerchiefs a new lease of life as a pretty tablecloth.

Instructions

  1. Wash and carefully iron the handkerchiefs.
  2. Lay the handkerchiefs out side by side on a large flat surface, then move them around to create a design you are happy with. Once this is done, pin the edges together to hold them in place.
  3. Sew the handkerchiefs together using slip-stitch, making sure the edges barely overlap. Repeat until all the edges have been stitched together, then press.

Tip

  • If the handkerchiefs you are using are extremely delicate think about using a backing fabric such as chiffon or organza.
