Deborah Bowness' Genuine Fake Books wallpaper is stunning but with a roll priced at €230 it can be very expensive. There is a cheaper way to achieve the book look by getting your DIY cap on, why not use pages from old dictionaries or books to create a different interpretation of the look?
You'll need
- Old books, newspapers or dictionaries
- Wallpaper paste
- Paint tray
- A brush
Directions
- Cut the pages from your chosen book, the bigger the sheet the easier it will be. Try getting a secondhand copy of your favorite novel to use; it adds a more personal touch.
- Pour wallpaper paste into a tray making sure it's not too thick as these pages are more delicate than normal wallpaper.
- Working one page at a time coat the back of the pages with paste and leave to set for a few moments.
- Position the page on the wall, and press flat making sure there are no bubbles. Continue until you have covered your selected area.
- Once you've pasted all the pages allow to dry and then roll a thin coat of wallpaper paste on top to seal.
