A Season for sharing
Autumn has long been framed as the time to retreat, but to me, it’s when life comes back indoors. After a summer of scattered schedules, we gather again - circling fires, sitting at tables, lingering in rooms with glowing lights, and leaving doors ajar, ready for company, not solitude.
A season to gather. Less hibernation; more connection.
As I approached this issue, I thought about how our homes help with that. The small ways they create atmosphere, a rug that softens a room, a chair that invites you to stay just a little longer.
That mood runs through every page: The Art of Autumn (pg 84), shows how living room comfort can become the backdrop to conversation. Explore how to warm a space from the ground up in our Ground Cover flooring special (pg 92). We’ve rounded up fireside accessories for the perfect hearth (pg 120), smart energy updates that boost comfort and value (pg 129), and even the secret shopping address books of 10 of Ireland’s savviest tastemakers (pg 38).
We took a peek inside three very different homes, a city slick pad (pg 68), a playful pink-hued self-build by the sea (page 52), and a family suburban semi-d packed with personality (pg 108), Each show how different settings can capture the same spirit: spaces built for people, comfort, and soul.
Autumn, for me, is the season of the open invitation, a collective experience of style, which is nothing without soul. I hope thsee pages of House and Home inspire you to make yours exactly that.
