A renovated period home in The Hague that uses colour cleverly

Where is it? The Hague in the western Netherlands

Who lives here? Marlou and Matthijs

Size of home: 250 m²

As an avid collector, lover of old items and trawling through flea markets, homeowner, Marlou, chose to preserve the authenticity of this period home. The cornicing and detailing remains intact as it joins forces with the more modern elements within the build. "All of the piping and the electrics were replaced, we bought new windows and doors and everything was plastered. We installed a new kitchen and bathroom. Before something can be beautiful, it has to be a big mess. When all the floors were open, I thought 'how will this ever be ok?'. But it worked out well," says Marlou.
