Evelina Kravaev Söderberg is the head of design for H&M Home, which has quickly become one of our favourite highstreet homeware haunts, despite the fact you can still only buy it online in Ireland. She lives in her Stockholm home with her designer husband Stefan, and their children, Ted and Eli.

The 1920s apartment is a mix of vintage and mid-century touches in the centre of Stockholm, and the family has been living there for the last 17 years. Perfectly laid out, naturally lit and with minimal work required, she's filled the apartment with only things she really loves, which has resulted in a very beautifully curated space.

However, a lot of time and effort has gone into getting the home to this point. "Over the years we have slowly built up our collection of furniture, focusing on Mid-Century pieces by designers such as Eames and Aalto, along with vintage finds and pieces that I love from H&M Home," she explained to Elle Decor. "It took several years, as I only want to surround myself with objects that I truly love ... and that really just takes time."

She's bought in to the idea that you should invest in your main pieces of furniture, choosing pieces that will last, and in the 17 years she's been in her home, she hasn't had to update them. "I haven't changed furniture in many years. I update the space with the home accessories (as I like to call the H&M Home products) for seasonal renewal."

She replaced the "irregular" colours originally on the walls - yellows and turquoises - to neutral, calm and warm colours, and incorporated mid-century modern and vintage furniture, from chairs to sideboards, to contrast with the white walls. Layers of textiles and soft furnishings add texture and warmth to the home.

The only major work she has done to the Stockholm home was to expand the bathroom, for which she used some extra space in the bedroom to great effect.

"Home is everything to me. It's not just my work, it's my life," Söderberg said. "It is a sanctuary, and at the same time it is a place for celebration and sharing. I love creating pieces for the home during the day, and then coming back to my own space to unwind and enjoy living."
