It's not quite the White House, but with eight bedrooms and 8,200 square feet, the Obamas aren't exactly slumming it in their 'new' home.
They've been renting the property in the exclusive Kalorama neighbourhood in Washington DC since they left the White House, but now the Chicago Sun Times reports the Obamas have purchased the home for $8.1 million. That puts paid to the questions of where they'll put down post White House roots, so!
“Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property,” Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis told the Sun Times.
Kalorama is also home to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and has been home to past presidents, including Woodrow Wilson, William Howard Taft, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, and Herbert Hoover–all living there before or after their time at the White House.
Designed by Michael S. Smith, the home has eight bedrooms, nine-and-a-half bathrooms, a spacious kitchen with marble countertops, multiple living spaces each with its own fireplace, not to mention ample outdoor space for entertaining and lounging.
And, the best part is, we can give you a tour of the inside, thanks to listing agent Mark McFadden. Scroll down for a peek.
