By Anna Shelswell-White 25-04-2016

Renting doesn't mean you have to be a slave to a space's (already existing) aesthetic. There are plenty of things you can switch up and change around to make your living situation that bit sweeter. If you hate that pale yellow wall or the faux leather settee, store away what you can and ask your landlord if a repaint is an option. But if not, there are smaller projects that will make your rental a place you can't wait to come home to. Read on and revamp.

1. Switch up you drawer handles and door knobs

2. Frame your wallpaper (if you're not allowed to hang it)

3. Change up your blinds or add curtains over those drab windows

4. Install simple shelves to display art, your books or any collections
